The symbol
Ram is the name given to right conduct, to keeping one's word at cost to oneself. Writing the name repeatedly, likhit jaap, is a devotional practice in its own right, and in many homes the written name is kept where it can be seen rather than stored away. Rendered in stone, the writing becomes permanent, which is the whole intention behind the practice.
How it is made
Forty amethysts in three cuts: thirty two large ovals for the body of the script, five large marquise and three small marquise at the terminals where a stroke narrows. The shirorekha, the line across the top, is laid first and in one continuous run, because every letter below hangs from it. A single stone out of line there would tilt the whole word. Placed by hand onto suede, framed in solid wood, engraved base.

Questions about this piece
It is an object for a home or a desk. The stones are laid on cream suede inside a solid wood frame with its own stand, not mounted in jewellery. It is not a ratna prescribed for astrological remedy, and nothing about it needs to be worn, energised or activated.
