S and R Initials in Natural Gemstones, Wedding Monogram
Rhodo Garnet · Walnut
Available, individually presented
S and R, joined by an ampersand, in natural gemstones. Two of the most difficult letterforms in one piece. The S has no straight line at all. The R has a bowl, a stem and a leg that must all meet cleanly at a single point. Together they need more turned stones than any other pairing we have made. Set onto cream suede in the same Rhodo Garnet as our sacred pieces, framed in solid wood, standing on its own engraved base. Given at weddings, at anniversaries, and at a griha pravesh for a household that has just begun.

The symbol
Two letters together say something a single letter cannot: that a household began when two names met. It is why initials appear on wedding invitations, on trunks, and above the doors of houses built for a marriage. The ampersand is the oldest symbol we still use for the idea of two things held as one.
How it is made
The S and the R are two of the harder letterforms, and setting them together compounds it. The S has no straight line, so every stone in it is turned against its neighbour. The R has three parts, a bowl, a stem and a leg, which must meet at one point without the stones crowding. The pairing takes more individually rotated stones than any other we have made.

Questions about this piece
It is an object for a home or a desk. The stones are laid on cream suede inside a solid wood frame with its own stand, not mounted in jewellery. It is not a ratna prescribed for astrological remedy, and nothing about it needs to be worn, energised or activated.
